CATHEDRALSymbol of Milan par excellence, commissioned by Gian Galeazzo Visconti in 1386, built on the site previously occupied by two Paleo Christian basilicas. It is the biggest Gothic style building in Italy, and is breathtakingly beautiful.
Curiosity: Situated in the geometric centre of Milan, the Cathedral measures 11,500 m2, is 158 metres long, 93 wide and surmounted by countless spires, the tallest of which is 109 metres tall. The Cathedral Museum in Piazza Duomo, 14 is open from Monday to Sunday, from 10.00 until 13.15 and from 15.00 until to 18,00 (closed at Christmas, on New Year's Day, at Easter, May 1st, April 25th and August 15th).
